Praying with the Dominican Sisters of San Jose
At the urging of our brother, Carlos Azpiroz Costa, OP, Master of the Order, the Dominican Family is invited to pray the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary keeping in mind those who have suffered loss during these last five years of the war in Iraq. We invite you to join the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose in this recitation of the Rosary “as a means of contemplation and an instrument of prophetic preaching.”
As we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries, let us focus on the following:
-
The Agony in the Garden
Remember the more than10,000 Iraqi soldiers who have lost their lives during
this war. Remember their families and friends who have suffered great loss.
-
The Scourging at the Pillar
Remember the 665,000 civilians who have died and the 100 Iraqi civilians to die every day, especially the elderly, women and children.
-
The Crowning of Thorns
Remember the the 4,000 U.S. soldiers who have been killed and the almost 30,000soldiers who have been wounded during these five years of war.
-
The Carrying of the Cross
Remember the 1.8 million Iraqi Refugees who have fled their homes and relocatedin other parts of Iraq and remember the 2 million Iraqis who have left their country to seek shelter and safety in neighboring countries.
-
The Crucifixion
Remember all who have suffered loss because of this war. Remember our Christian brothers and sisters, and remember especially our Dominican family in Iraq who suffer each day because of this war. Remember the children of Iraq who only know war. Let us pray for peace in their land and in ours.
